How Fast Can I Design a Watch?

Some months after my Poincare Disk Clock, I decided to attempt something more challenging. I hadn’t made very many complex assemblies yet, and decided to try my hand at creating a wristwatch around an off-the-shelf movement.

As my interest in horology continued to develop, I decided to spend an idle afternoon creating a dress watch. I used the ETA 6497 hand-wound movement as the heart and soul of the piece and chose to cap it with another off-the-shelf glass dome to protect the face..

In four hours, I had created and rendered a piece I continue to be quite proud of. The hands, chapters, face, case, backing, and crown were all completely designed top to bottom in that afternoon.

I look forward to continuing to develop this interest as time goes on, and to bring new techniques and materials to bear
