Laser Cutting Custom Boxes
There never seems to be a box that is just the right size. I was commissioned by a friend to create some custom boxes for her, and I thought I might save myself some future effort as well. A pack-and-go of the verification assembly and component boxes is available here.
I had some personal desires for some custom trays and boxes as well — I needed some custom drawers, and having some laser-cut finger joints was the ideal fastening solution for the both of us. By leveraging parametric modeling and SOLIDWORKS Configurations, I was able to condense all these different varieties to a single part. Since the fingers follow the size of the box, I have no problems arbitrarily creating new sizes as long as they fit in my laser bed.
A freelancing colleague and dear friend reached out to me to design some custom sized boxes. There were no real restrictions, but I wanted to be certain that if we needed to iterate that there would be minimal hassle.
